## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. BRIAN F. POTTINGER, PILOT CERT. #294526121, WAS ATTEMPTING A LANDING AT ARTH PRIVATE AIRPORT ON 6-27-03 IN A CESSNA 170, N9067A. THE DAY WAS VFR WITH A LIGHT CROSSWIND FROM THE LEFT. THE RUNWAY IS A NORTH/SOUTH GRASS STRIP, APPROXIMATELY 1,000' LONG WITH A MAJOR UP SLOPE OF ABOUT 150' TO 200' STARTING AT MID POINT TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY. PASSENGER, SCOTT GROTE, WAS ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT IN THE RIGHT SEAT. N9067A TOUCHED DOWN AT THE HALF WAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY, BOUNCED BACK INTO THE AIR AND A GO AROUND WAS STARTED. DURING THE GO AROUND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BAIL OF HAY AT THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER AND CRASH, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03LA144](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03LA144), Jun 27, 2003: Cessna 170A (N9067A), Newcomerstown, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to obtain the proper touchdown point and delayed go-around. Factors in this accident were the up sloping runway.

## Other reports on N9067A (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19820905053569I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820905053569I), Sep 5, 1982: Cessna 170A (N9067A), Harrison, MI, Minor damage. Dragged a wing tip while landing in a gusty crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
