## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE PERFORMING NORMAL TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS ON RUNWAY 14 AT NASHUA NEW HAMPSHIRE AIRPORT ON 6/30/03 BETWEEN THE EVENING HOURS OF 5 AND 6, STUDENT PILOT RYAN BELL WAS FLYING SOLO WHEN HE FAILED TO REALIZE HE HAD HAD A HARD LANDING. MR. BELL STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED A FASTER THAN NORMAL RATE OF DESCENT DURING THE HARD LANDING WHICH HE BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY THE DOWNDRAFT CONDITION. AT THE TIME OF THE HARD LANDING MR. BELL WAS OPERATING WITH A TAILWIND THAT HE ESTIMATED AT 320 DEGREES AT 10/15 KNOTS. NEVER EXPERIENCING A HARD LANDING, MR. BELL DID NOT BELIEVE THAT THE LANDING WAS ABNORMALLY HARD (COMPARED TO A HOVERING AUTO ROTATION). HE CONTINUED TO FLY IN CLOSED TRAFFIC AND CONTINUED HIS SOLO FLYING ON RUNWAY 32 AS ADVISED BY THE NASHUA ATC TOWER. MR. BELL ACKNOWLEDGED THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WHEN CONFRONTED BY THE OWNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
