## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM NUT TREE AIRPORT CA TO SDL AIRPORT AX THIS AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION. THE PILOT HAD STATED THAT SHE HAD TOPPED THE AIRCRAFT THE NIGHT BEFORE THE FLIGHT. SHE STATED THAT HE NOTED NO FUEL LEAKS DURING THE PREFLIGHT THE NEXT MORNING. A FUEL SLIP WAS PRESENTED PROVING THAT FUEL WAS PURCHASED AND THE AIRCRAFT SHOULD HAVE HAD ENOUGH FUEL FOR THE TRIP. DURING THE INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT, I DISCOVERED THAT THE ELBOW LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GASCOLATOR WAS CRACKED. THIS HAD EVIDENCE OF FUEL ON IT AND THE BOTTOM OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS STAINED WITH FUEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX03LA216](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX03LA216), Jun 29, 2003: Cessna 210D (N3826Y), Carefree, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: fuel exhaustion due to a crack on the elbow fitting to the gascolator resulted in a fuel leak.

## Other reports on N3826Y (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910926054489I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910926054489I), Sep 26, 1991: Cessna 210D (N3826Y), Atwood, IL, Minor damage. Pilot landed with gear retracted. Gear warning horn did not function. Gear throttle switch inoperative.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
