## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT JOHNSON CREEK AIRPORT, YELLOWPINE, ID, AT APPROXIMATELY 1200 MDT. THE PILOT PERFORMED WHAT WAS REPORTED AS A "STANDARD" GO-AROUND, WHICH FOR JOHNSON CREEK AIRPORT IS TO FLY SOUTH UP THE VALLEY UNTIL SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE IS GAINED TO CLEAR THE RIDGELINES. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE RIDGELINE APPROXIMATELY 1500' ABOVE THE AIRPORT ELEVATION, APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILES SOUTH OF THE AIRPORT. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE ENGINE WAS PRODUCING POWER AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. AT THE TIME OF THIS REPORT, AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE RECORDS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. AN AMENDED REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED WHEN THAT INFORMATION IS MADE AVAILABLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA03FA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA03FA123), Jul 4, 2003: Beech A24-R (N254M), Yellow Pine, ID, destroyed, 3 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance. Factors include trees and mountainous terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
