## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT INITIATED AN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 24 AT RICHMOND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT WITH A QUARTERING TAILWIND OF APPROXIMATELY 8 KNOTS. IMMEDIATELY UPON TOUCHDOWN THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT RESULTING IN A GROUND LOOP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING EAR AND PROPELLER AND THE FUSELAGE WAS BUCKLED INBOARD OF THE RIGHT WING. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED AND AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT DID NOT HOLD THE REQUIRED MEDICAL OR PILOT CERTIFICATE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA195), Jul 5, 2003: Ruminski Ultra Pup (N124TR), Richmond, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain directional control and the airplane ground looped.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
