## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MICHAEL WILLIAMSON, PILOT OF N98635, OPERATED A CESSNA 402B ON A CARGO FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN LOADED AND TAXIED FOR DEPARTURE ON RUNWAY 16 AT LAKEVIEW, OR. THE PILOT BACK TAXIED TO THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 16. HE INITIATED A 180 DEGREE TURN ON THE RUNWAY IN PREPARATION FOR TAKEOFF WHEN THE LEFT GEAR COLLAPSED. INVESTIGATION INTO THE ACCIDENT REVEALED THAT THE ROLLER PIN SHEARED OFF ALLOWING THE TRUNNION PIN TO BACK OUT. AS A RESULT, THE GEAR COLLAPSED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA03LA133](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA03LA133), Jul 8, 2003: Cessna 402 B (N98635), Lakeview, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the landing gear shaft roll pin resulting in a main gear collapse during the taxi phase of operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
