## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CLIMBING THROUGH 17000 FEET, THE PILOT NOTICED LEFT ENGINE MANIFOLD PRESSURE FLUCTUATION, THEN NOTICED OIL ON LEFT COWLING & WING. PILOT SHUT DOWN LEFT ENGINE. APPROXIMATELY TWO (2) MINUTES LATER, THE RIGHT ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE RIGHT ENGINE. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN PASTURE APPROXIMATELY THREE (3) MILES EAST OF HLG.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC03LA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC03LA155), Jul 9, 2003: Beech BE-56TC (N156DK), Bethany, WV, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of power in the right engine for undetermined reasons. A factor was a partial loss of power in the left engine due to a loose oil line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
