## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHEN LANDING AT ENGLISH BAY AIRPORT (KEB), NANWALEK, AK. THE AIRCRAFT APPARENTLY LANDED TOO FAST, TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT MIDWAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY, BOUNCING TWICE INTO THE AIR, AS DESCRIBED BY WITNESSES ON SCENE. AT ONE END OF THE AIRPORT, TERRAIN ELEVATION BECOMES CRITICAL, RISING RAPIDLY. THE PILOT APPARENTLY APPLIED FULL POWER AFTER THE SECOND BOUNCE, AGAIN AS DESCRIBED BY WITNESSES, AND HAD TO INITIATE A SHARP TURN TO THE RIGHT OVER WATER, IN AN APPARENT ATTEMPT TO AVOID THE RISING TERRAIN. AT THIS POINT THE AIRCRAFT APPARENTLY EXPERIENCED A STRONG TAIL WIND AND CRASHED APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS OFF SHORE AND SANK IN ABOUT 30 FEET OF WATER. WITNESSES SAID THE WIND WAS BLOWING ACROSS THE RUNWAY LEFT TO RIGHT AT ABOUT 25 MPH AND GUSTING HIGHER.
