## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PIC MADE A MAIN WHEEL LANDING ON RUNWAY 30 WITH AN ESTIMATED LEFT CROSSWIND OF 7-8 KNOTS. PIC STATED THAT EVERYTHING FELT NORMAL DURING HIS ROLL-OUT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT 30-40 KNOT GUST FROM THE LEFT. THIS GUST FACTOR CAUSED A MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO DEPART THE LEFT/WEST SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. AFTER DEPARTING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT WENT UP ON IT'S NOSE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR, THE ENGINE FIREWALL AND THE REAR SPARS ON BOTH WINGS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX03LA234](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX03LA234), Jul 12, 2003: Cessna 150H (N22897), Dyer, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the gusting crosswind conditions and failure to maintain directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
