## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 14, 2003, MR. JAMES ROBEL DEPARTED BRACKETT AIRPORT IN PIPER PA-46, N444DT, ENROUTE TO TORRANCE AIRPORT (TOA). HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE ON APPROACH TO TOA WHICH CAUSED THE LANDING GEAR WARNING HORN TO SOUND. HE ABORTED THE LANDING AND NOTICED THAT THE LANDING GEAR HYDRAULIC PUMP CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD TRIPPED. HE RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER NUMEROUS TIMES AND TRIED TO LOWER THE GEAR WITHOUT SUCCESS. HE THEN PERFORMED THE EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION PROCEDURE BY PULLING THE RELEASE HANDLE BUT THE LANDING GEAR DID NOT EXTEND. THE TOA TOWER VERIFIED THAT THE MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS PARTIALLY EXTENDED BUT THE NOSE GEAR WAS UP AND LOCKED. HE THEN PREPARED FOR A GEAR UP LANDING AT TOA. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AND THE MAIN LANDING GEAR SUPPORTED THE AIRCRAFT BUT THE PROPELLER AND NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE DAMAGED DUE TO THE AIRCRAFT NOSE STRIKING THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
