## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT TAXIED THE AIRCRAFT, STRIKING A FUEL TRUCK WITH THE OUTBOARD TWO FEET OF THE LEFT WING. THIS CONTACT CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT NOSE TO TURN TOWARD THE TRUCK. THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED WITH THE PROPELLER ONLY INCHES FROM A MAJOR FUEL LINE, THE FUEL TRUCK WAS FUELING ANOTHER AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME. BOTH PILOT'S STATED THE FUEL TRUCK WAS NOT IN PLACE WHEN THEY PRE-FLIGHTED THE AIRCRAFT, NEITHER PILOT SAW THE TRUCK PULL UP TO THE AIRCRAFT TWO PARKING SPACES AWAY (ANOTHER AIRCRAFT WAS PARKED IN-BETWEEN). THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED HE HAD HIS HEAD DOWN COMPLETING PAPERWORK, WHEN HE LOOKED UP IT WAS TOO LATE. THE STUDENT PILOT STATED HE WAS NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING TO BE IN HIS WAY WHEN HE INITIATED HIS TAXI FROM THE PARKING SLOT. HE STATED HE WAS STARTLED WHEN HE SAW THE TRUCK AND COULD NOT REACT IN TIME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
