## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 15, 2003, AT 0019 DST, N4174S LANDED AT THE BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT GEAR UP. THE PILOT REPORTED ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN BEFORE LANDING AND HEARING A METALLIC SOUND FOLLOWED BY AN ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING. AFTER THE GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND THE PILOT EXECUTED THE MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION CHECKLIST AND WAS UNABLE TO LOWER THE GEAR MANUALLY (SEE PILOT STATEMENT). AFTER FAILING TO EXTEND THE GEAR THE PILOT MADE A GEAR UP LANDING WITH NO INJURIES AND CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
