## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS LANDING ON RWY 36, A GRASS STRIP AT VNW. HE STATED THAT HE USED 20 DEGREES OF FLAPS FOR THE LANDING AND WAS ABOUT 5 KNOTS FAST FOR THE LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN IN THE FIRST THIRD OF THE RUNWAY BUT PORPOISED THREE TIMES. ON THE THIRD CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY THE NOSE GEAR FAILED AND SUBSEQUENTLY SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND THE WIND WAS A DIRECT HEADWIND OF 8 KNOTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
