## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 21, 2003 A CESSNA 140 REGISTERED TO AND PILOTED BY LINNE S. WEINBERGER WAS INVOLVED IN AN AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT AT MERRILL FIELD ALASKA. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT THE LANDING WAS SMOOTH AND NORMAL UNTIL SHE REALIZED THE TAIL WAS STILL RISING AND SHE COULD NOT STOP IT. SHE THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE LEFT BRAKE GRABBING. THE FLIGHT WAS OPERATED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF FAR PART 91. THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER WERE UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC03CA081](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC03CA081), Jul 21, 2003: Cessna 140 (N72860), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane and excessive application of the airplane brakes during the landing roll that resulted in the airplane nosing over.

## Other reports on N72860 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19890324021409I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890324021409I), Mar 24, 1989: Cessna 140 (N72860), Escalante, UT, Minor damage. Lost directional control due to a strong crosswind on landing. Landed on side of runway. Hit a sage brush.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
