## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT AND OWNER OF AIRCRAFT LANDING ON RUNWAY 17 AT LOGAN, UTAH AIRPORT, (LGU), WITH WINDS FROM 190 WITH 12 KNOTS GUSTING TO 18 KNOTS. THE PILOT MADE A 3 POINT LANDING WITH HIS CONVENTIONAL GEAR AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT HAD AN UNCOMMANDED LIFT OFF AND BOUNCED 3-4 TIMES. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION, THE LEFT WHEEL/AXLE/BRAKE ASSEMBLY DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT SKIDDED ON LEFT WING TIP, LEFT GEAR COMING TO A REST ON THE NOSE DAMAGING THE PROP AND COWLING. A WITNESS AGREED THAT HIS LANDING ATTEMPT LOOKED NORMAL, AND THAT HIS FIRST TOUCHDOWN DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN A HARD LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN03LA145](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN03LA145), Aug 7, 2003: R. I. Woods Bushby Mustang II (N74ST), Logan, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control, and his inadequate recovery from the bounced landing. A contributing factor was the wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
