## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INSTRUMENT CHECKRIDE APRIL 1, 2003 (LEX). NO ACTIVE LOGBOOK. ON APPROACH TO OWD FROM LEX. PILOT DID NOT HAVE 'GEAR DOWN/LOCKED' INDICATION. GEAR HORN SOUNDED CONTINUOUSLY, AND TOWER FLY-BY WAS PERFORMED FOR VISUAL STATUS OF GEAR DEPLOYMENT. TOWER COULD SEE GEAR, BUT COULD NOT CONFIRM IF THEY WERE FULLY 'DOWN AND LOCKED'. PILOT DID NOT ATTEMPT MANUALLY DEPLOYING GEAR BY HAND. INITIAL TEARDOWN REPORTS FROM OWD M/X FACILITY REVEAL LANDING GEAR MOTOR NO LONGER FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
