## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 10, 2003 AT 18:30 CDT A CESSNA CE-177-RG, N1JM, MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT WILMOT, WI (5K6) DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED LONG ON GRASS RUNWAY 32 AND CONTINUED OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO A SOYBEAN FIELD. THE PRIVATE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED, BUT THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED AS A PLEASURE FLIGHT UNDER 14 CFR PART 91. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED IN GARDEN CITY, KS UNDER VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND A VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE RIGHT TANK WAS DRY AND THE LEFT TANK HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/2 INCH OF FUEL. THE FUEL TANK SELECTOR IN THE COCKPIT WAS SELECTED TO "RIGHT TANK" POSITION. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SPUTTER AND QUIT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
