## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM SANDY, UT AT 10,500 FEET, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE LOST POWER UP APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES WEST OF THE LARAMIE, WY VOR. HE TRIED TO RESTORE ENGINE POWER BUT FAILED AND SELECTED A SUITABLE PLACE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AT APPROXIMATELY 9000 MSL IN A PINE TREE FOREST WITHOUT ANY LIFE THREATENING PERSONAL INJURIES. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN03LA146](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN03LA146), Aug 21, 2003: Cessna 150F (N8065F), Laramie, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power for undetermined reasons. Contributing factors were the high density altitude, trees, mountainous terrain, and unsuitable terrain on which to make a forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
