## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS APPROACHING MACON, MO (K89) FROM THE WEST AS THUNDERSTORMS WERE FORMING IN THE VICINITY. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN ON RUNWAY 20 WITH ALL THREE WHEELS. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT DUE TO STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE OVER CORRECTED FOR THE CONDITIONS AND THE AIRPLANE DEPARTED THE RUNWAY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. THE RIGHT WING TIP CAME IN CONTACT WITH A TREE CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO SPIN AROUND BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT WING TIP, LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR, AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE BEHIND THE PASSENGER DOOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The pilot's improper use of the rudder, which resulted in directional control not being maintained during the landing. A factor to the accident was the crosswind gust.
