## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS AT 2000 MSL ON DOWNWIND AT CADY STRIP PRIVATE AIRPORT. THE PILOT EXTENDED DOWNWIND TO GET LOWER. HE WAS STILL HIGH AND FAST ON BASE. ON FINAL THE PILOT TRIED TO CRAB TO LOSE ALTITUDE AND SLOW DOWN. HE TOUCHED DOWN MIDWAY DOWN THE RUNWAY GOING TOO FAST. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE AIRPLANE FELT LIKE IT WANTED TO FLIP OVER. THE GRASS WAS WET WITH DEW, AND THE AIRCRAFT RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY OVER A DITCH AND FLIPPED OVER. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE AIRCRAFT, THE PILOT SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA283](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA283), Aug 25, 2003: Cessna 182 (N5360B), Deer Grove, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain the proper touchdown point, and his failure to execute a go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
