## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT ABOUT 1745 THE APPROPRIATELY RATED PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT WAS RETURNING FROM ST. LOUIS TO GALESBURG. THE PIC WAS ABOUT 2000 FEET MSL AND 20 MILES SOUTH OF THE GBG AIRPORT WHEN SHE EXPERIENCED A ROUGH ENGINE FOLLOWED BY A POWER LOSS. SHE SWITCHED TO THE LEFT MAIN AND THE ENGINE RESTARTED FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN QUIT AGAIN, THEN SHE SWITCHED BACK TO THE RIGHT MAIN TANK AND TURNED ON THE ELECTRIC BOOST PUMP. THE ENGINE RESTARTED, THEN THE BOOST PUMP WAS TURNED BACK OFF. A SHORT TIME LATER THE ENGINE QUIT AGAIN. AN EMERGENCY LANDING WAS MADE IN A CORNFIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPRIGHT ON ITS BELLY, SUFFERING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE WINGS COWL, ENGINE MOUNT FIREWALL AREA, PROPELLER AND AILERONS. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY.
