## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT HAD DEPARTED RANCHAERO AIRPORT (O23) IN CHICO CA. ON FIRST FLIGHT AFTER A COMPLETE REPAINTING OF THE AIRCRAFT. ON FINAL APPROACH TO NAPA AIRPORT THE LEFT HAND AILERON CAME LOOSE FROM IT'S OUTBOARD ATTACH POINT. THE AILERON REMAINED ATTACHED BY THE INBOARD ATTACHED POINT BUT HUNG DOWN AT ABOUT A 70 DEGREE ANGLE. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO LAND WITH NO FURTHER DAMAGE OR INJURIES TO THE LONE OCCUPANT. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT INDICATES, THAT WHEN THE FLIGHT CONTROLS WERE REINSTALLED AFTER PAINTING THE RETAINING NUT ON THE OUTBOARD ATTACH BOLT WAS NOT INSTALLED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
