## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING A SECOND APPROACH INTO GRAND MARAIS (CKC) AIRPORT WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 1.27 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE AIRPORT. THERE WERE 2 FATALITIES AND 2 SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03FA296](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03FA296), Aug 28, 2003: Beech 58P (N285V), Grand Marais, MN, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The continued descent below minimum descent altitude and the altitude/clearance not maintained by the pilot during approach to the airport. The low ceiling was a contributing factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
