## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE MAIN LANDING GEAR, AND BEFORE THE TAIL WHEEL TOUCHED DOWN, AIRCRAFT STARTED TO DRIFT LEFT. RIGHT BRAKE WAS APPLIED, AIRCRAFT SWERVED TO THE RIGHT, LEFT BRAKE WAS APPLIED WITHOUT RELEASING THE RIGHT, AND AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER, COMING TO REST ON ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI03LA295](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI03LA295), Aug 30, 2003: Luscombe 8A (N1954B), Maquoketa, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive use of the brake system, which resulted in directional control not being maintained during the landing. A factor to the accident was the crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
