## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED HE WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOES FOR PROFICIENCY, ADVISED HE HAD COMPLETED 2 OF THEM. ON THIRD APPROACH TO RUNWAY 12R, PILOTS STATED WHILE DOING LAST MINUTE CHECKS ON OVERHEAD PANEL, SUDDENLY AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE DROPPING (PAN CAKING), RECALLS POWERING UP AND GETTING POWER TO ENGINE VERY QUICKLY. AIRCRAFT APPEARS TO HAVE STALLED DUE TO LACK OF SUFFICIENT AIRSPEED, PILOT REPORTS HE CANNOT REMEMBER HEARING THE STALL WARNING HORN. AIRCRAFT LANDED ON AIRPORT GROUNDS, SHORT OF THE RUNWAY ABOUT (300 YDS). INITIAL IMPACT WAS ON RIGHT GEAR AND A FEW FEET LATER THE LEFT GEAR IMPACTED THE GROUND ALSO LEAVING A LEFT WING IMPACT IMPRESSION ON THE GROUND, AIRCRAFT THEN APPEARS TO HAVE BOUNCED APPROXIMATELY 30 YDS AND COMING TO A STOP (45 DEGREE HEADING). THE RIGHT WING SPAR WAS BROKEN AND WING WAS FOUND MOSTLY DETACHED FROM THE FUSELAGE AND UNDER THE AFT PORTION OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE LEFT SIDE WING SPAR AREA WAS ALSO BROKEN BUT WING REMAINED ATTACHED TO THE FUSELAGE. PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS HEAD, PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURY TO CHEST AND BACK (WHIPLASH). STATEMENT FROM PERSONNEL ASSISTING WITH RESCUE REPORTS, PILOT STATING "I THINK I CAME IN TOO SLOW".

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX03LA273](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX03LA273), Sep 1, 2003: Piper PA-46-350P (N103TK), North Las Vegas, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed during approach for the airplane's flight configuration, which resulted in an inadvertent stall and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
