## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING THE LANDING PHASE, N6723C EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE NOSE WHEEL SHIMMY. HE THEN INITIATED TAKE-OFF PROCEDURES BY APPLYING FULL POWER AND PARTIALLY RETRACTING FLAPS. THE PILOT FURTHER REPORTED THAT, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS APPLYING BACK PRESSURE ON THE YOKE, THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED DOWN AND HE HEARD A "CRACKING SOUND". PILOT STATED THAT HE THEN REMOVED POWER AND APPLIED FORWARD YOKE PRESSURE. THE INSPECTION OF THE NOSE GEAR REVEALED THAT BOTH LUGS HAD BEEN INSTANTANEOUSLY OVERLOADED. THIS INFORMATION, SUPPORTED BY THE PILOT'S STATEMENT, LEADS INVESTIGATORS TO CONCLUDE THAT THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE GEAR FAILED WHEN THE PILOT REDUCED POWER AND APPLIED EXCESSIVE FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE YOKE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
