## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 09/07/2003, AT 14:40 LOCAL TIME, A LANCAIR 320 SINGLE ENGINE AIRPLANE, REGISTRATION NUMBER N108PB, REGISTERED TO WILLIAM M. RUSSELL OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED WITH THE GEAR UP AT DENTON TX WHILE ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT. THE PILOT REPORTED THE GEAR SWITCH WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION, BUT IT FAILED TO LOWER BECAUSE OF A HYDRAULIC ANOMALY. NO EMERGENCY LANDING GEAR EXTENSION WAS ATTEMPTED. THE PILOT BECAME DISTRACTED BY ANOTHER AIRPLANE IN THE SAME TRAFFIC PATTERN REPORTING THE SAME POSITION. VFR CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED. THE PILOT HOLDS A COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE WITH INSTRUMENT RATING. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT LAJOLLA, CA (SEE) ON 09/07/2003 AT 13:00 LOCAL TIME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
