## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON ENTERING THE TRAFFIC PATTERN, PILOT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTIES EXTENDING THE LANDING GEAR. AFTER RECYCLING GEAR AND FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED CHECKLIST PROCEDURES, THE AIRCRAFT OVER FLEW THE TOWER TO CHECK THE GEAR. THE RIGHT GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND. THE PILOT AND STUDENT MADE A GEAR UP EMERGENCY LANDING IN THE GRASS ALONG SIDE THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT ONLY RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE AND NEITHER PASSENGER WAS INJURED. UPON INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR PIVOT ARM WAS FOUND TO BE SHEARED THEREFORE CAUSING THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR TO FAIL TO EXTEND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
