## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS POSITIONING THE AIRCRAFT FROM RALEIGH (RDU) TO ROCKY MOUNT (RWI) IN ORDER TO PICK UP CARGO FOR A FLIGHT UNDER PART 135 TO CONCORD, NC (JQF). THE FLIGHT WAS MADE ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN IN VFR CONDITIONS. THE PILOT MADE A NORMAL LANDING AT RWI AND, DURING THE LANDING ROLL, ACCIDENTALLY SELECTED THE GEAR SWITCH RATHER THAN THE FLAP SWITCH. THE PILOT MOVED THE GEAR SWITCH TO THE "UP" POSITION, REALIZED WHAT HE DID, AND IMMEDIATELY PUT THE SWITCH BACK IN THE "DOWN" POSITION. HOWEVER, THE LEFT MAIN AND NOSE GEARS BEGAN TO RETRACT AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT AND DEPARTED THE RUNWAY. DURING THE INTERVIEW THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DIDN'T REALIZE HOW FATIGUED HE WAS UNTIL AFTER THE ACCIDENT. HE STATED THAT, ALTHOUGH HE MET THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR REST UNDER 14 CFR PART 135, HE DID NOT RECEIVE ADEQUATE SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE DUE TO HURRICANE AND HAD BEEN ON DUTY SINCE 0630 LOCAL THAT MORNING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
