## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE AMANA, IOWA, AIRPORT (C11) ON A TEST FLIGHT PER EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT OPERATING LIMITATIONS (PHASE 1). AT APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET AGL DURING CLIMB OUT, THE EXPERIMENTAL ROTAX ENGINE FAILED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY OFF-AIRPORT LANDING IN A CORNFIELD. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE AND WING SKINS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
