## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED PAULS VALLEY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AT 6:40 PM, ON OCTOBER 5, 2003, TO CONDUCT TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS. THE PILOT DEPARTED RUNWAY 35 AND EXECUTED A TOUCH AND GO. THE PILOT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE SECOND LANDING AND TAXIED AROUND FOR ANOTHER TAKEOFF. THE PILOT AGAIN DEPARTED RUNWAY 35. AIRBORNE AT THE END OF RUNWAY 35 THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER, AND WOULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE. THE PILOT STARTED A SHALLOW TURN TO THE LEFT TO ATTEMPT A CROSSWIND LANDING ON RUNWAY 12 AND REALIZED IT WAS GOING TO BE CLOSE AND THEN DECIDED TO ATTEMPT A LANDING ON A ROAD OR GRASS FIELD WITH FENCES. AT THIS POINT THE AIRSPEED WAS SLOWING TO 42 MPH WHEN THE TURN WAS COMPLETED AND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE ROOF OF A HOME AT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHICH IS ABOUT 400 YARDS DUE NORTH OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF RUNWAY 12. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AND GOT OFF THE ROOF. A FIRE STARTED WHICH DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT, HOUSE, A PICKUP TRUCK, AND A CAR. THE PILOT RECEIVED THREE SCRATCHES ON THE FOREHEAD AND ON ONE FINGER. THE PASSENGER WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW04LA003](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW04LA003), Oct 5, 2003: Stinson 108-1 (N845), Pauls Valley, OK, destroyed. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
