## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT IS THE OWNER OF THE GYROCOPTER. HIS ENGINE RPM WAS LOWER THAN EXPECTED SO HE ADJUSTED THE PITCH OF HIS PUSHER ROTOR BY 1 DEGREE. THE RESULT WAS AN INCREASE OF RPM. HE TOOK OFF ON A PAVED RUNWAY BUT THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT WANT TO CLIMB. HE TURNED TOWARD A SOD FIELD AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOSING LIFT. HE LANDED STRAIGHT DOWN ON THE SOD FIELD IN WHAT HE CHARACTERIZED AS A HARD LANDING. THIS RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES AND A BENT MAST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
