## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 19, 2003, AT 1700 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A RANS S-10, SINGLE ENGINE EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT, N190SP, WAS DESTROYED WHEN THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED STRAIGHT UP AT AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET AGL AND FLEW INTO THE GROUND AT A NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE. THE PILOT/OWNER WAS KILLED AFTER ONE WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL. THERE WAS NO FLIGHT PLAN FILED AND THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW04LA014](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW04LA014), Oct 19, 2003: Rans S-10 (N190SP), Ponder, TX, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to conduct low altitude maneuvering flight and his failure to maintain adequate airspeed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
