## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) TWO NOTAMS WERE ISSUED FOR THE RUNWAY CONDITIONS DUE TO 12 INCH SNOWBANKS AND ICY PATCHES WITH FAIR BRAKING ACTION PRIOR TO THE ATTEMPTED LANDING. THE PILOT STILL ELECTED TO LAND WITH THE RUNWAY COVERED WITH 3 INCHES OF SNOW. AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN 1700 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END, 5 FEET LEFT OF THE CENTER LINE AND SLID FOR ANOTHER 1900 FEET SIDEWAYS. THE AIRCRAFT HIT A SNOWBANK WITH THE RIGHT PROPELLER AND NOSE GEAR DURING THE SLIDE AND CAME TO REST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO LANDING. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT ENGINE, PROPELLER BLADES AND FUSELAGE ARE SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN04LA020](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN04LA020), Nov 1, 2003: Fairchild Swearingen SA227BC (N787KL), Rawlins, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll. Contributing factors include the pilot's improper in-flight planning/decision, the icy, snow covered runway and the snow…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
