## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WAS GIVING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION ON SLOPE LANDINGS TO HIS STUDENT. THE INSTRUCTOR DEMONSTRATED THE MANEUVER AND THEN PASSED THE CONTROLS TO THE STUDENT. THE STUDENT SUDDENLY APPLIED TOO MUCH COLLECTIVE AND THE AIRCRAFT GAINED ALTITUDE RAPIDLY AND BEGAN A SPIN TO THE LEFT. THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK CONTROL AND ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN WHILE STILL ROTATING AND ROLLED ONTO ITS LEFT SIDE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04LA015](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04LA015), Nov 6, 2003: Schmitt Exec 162F (N6463S), Prosser, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's abrupt application of excessive collective and the flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the student. Contributing factors were the ditch and low rotor RPM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
