## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 11, 2003 AT APPROXIMATELY 1410 MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME, CESSNA 172, REGISTRATION NUMBER N99704 WAS TAXIING SOUTH ON TAXIWAY A. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE TAXIWAY AND RAN OVER SOME SIGNING. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (WILLIAM HOUSLEY) AND HIS STUDENT (BRENDEN SCHULTZ) RETURNED TO THE HANGAR TO HAVE THE AIRCRAFT INSPECTED BY A COMPANY MECHANIC FOR ANY DAMAGE (IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED). THE PILOT INDICATED THAT ATIS 12 REPORTED WINDS GUSTING TO 26 KNOTS, HE THOUGHT THAT THESE CONDITIONS WOULD BE GOOD TRAINING FOR HIS STUDENT. WHILE TAXIING TO RUNWAY 35R MR. SCHULTS INDICATED THAT THE RUDDER WAS NOT WORKING. MR. HOUSLEY TURNED AROUND TO LOOK AT THE RUDDER (IT WAS DEFLECTED FULLY) WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE TAXIWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
