## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 18, 2003, AT 0721 MST, A SWEARINGEN SA226TC, LYM 1180 (N332BA) PILOTED BY ROBERT P. CAMENZIND, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING LANDING AT WALKER FIELD AIRPORT (GJT), GRAND JUNCTION, CO. THE FLIGHT, LYM 1180 OPERATED BY KEY LIME AIR CORP ORIGINATED IN DENVER, CO WITH A STOP IN RIFLE, CO (RIL) BEFORE LANDING AT GJT. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE LANDED HOT ON RUNWAY 11 AT GJT WITH 100-110 KNOTS OF AIRSPEED. THINKING HE HAD ALL THREE INDICATORS FOR A DOWN GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT'S MAIN GEAR EXTENDED, BUT THE NOSE GEAR FAILED TO OPERATE. ON TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 2600 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. CAMENZIND LATER REPORTED THAT THE WEEK PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT, ANOTHER PILOT, ERIC CARSON, FLEW N332BA. AS CARSON ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT DENVER, CO, HE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE LANDING GEAR AND HAD TO CYCLE IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT EXTENDED. A FAA (FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION) INSPECTOR EXAMINED THE AIRCRAFT AT GJT. APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES OF BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT PROPELLER BLADE TIPS WERE BENT OR MISSING. THE BROKEN-OFF PROPELLER BLADE TIPS FROM THE RIGHT PROPELLER RIPPED SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT HOLES IN THE BOTTOM AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE SKIN, DAMAGING A BULKHEAD AND WIRE BUNDLES. THE RADOME WAS DESTROYED AND THE FORWARD BULKHEAD WAS DAMAGED. THE FUSELAGE SKIN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS SCRAPED OR WORN DOWN TO THE MIDDLE OF THE DOORS ON THE NOSE WHEEL WELL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
