## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT TOOK OFF FROM 47K (MOUNDRIDGE, KS) FOR A FLIGHT TO KHUT (HUTCHINSON, KS). HE LANDED ON RUNWAY 31 AT HUTCHINSON AND TURNED LEFT ONTO TAXIWAY C, WHICH WAS PERPENDICULAR TO THE WIND. DURING THE TAXI, THE PILOT PULLED THE THROTTLE BACK TO IDLE TO SLOW THE AIRCRAFT FOR THE WINDY CONDITIONS. AT THAT POINT, A GUST OF WIND WEATHERVANED THE AIRPLANED TO THE RIGHT, INTO THE WIND. THE PILOT SAID THAT HE APPLIED CORRECTION FOR THE CROSSWIND, BUT THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL CAME UP AND THE NOSE STRUCK THE GROUND CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. MR. JEWETT HAS FLOWN APPROXIMATELY 1800 ACCIDENT FREE HOURS. HE RECEIVED HIS TAILWIND INSTRUCTION IN THE INCIDENT AIRPLANE AND WAS GIVEN HIS TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT AND FLIGHT REVIEW ON AUG. 5, 2003 AFTER 7.75 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION, HE CURRENTLY HAD 25 HOURS OF TAILWHEEL TIME LOGGED. AFTER TALKING TO THE PILOT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A 44709 REEXAM WAS UNNECESSARY AND THE PILOT WAS COUNSELED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
