## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS TAXIING FOR TAKEOFF ON TAXIWAY INDIA. UPON APPROACHING A SMALL PICK-UP TRUCK PARKED ON RIGHT SIDE OF TAXIWAY, PILOT MANEUVERED AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT TO PERMIT RIGHT WINGTIP TO CLEAR PICK-UP TRUCK. PILOT MIS-JUDGED CLEARANCE AND RIGHT WINGTIP STRUCK LEFT REAR OF PICK-UP CAB, WHICH WAS UNOCCUPIED. UPON IMPACT, PILOT FAILED TO PREVENT AIRCRAFT FROM ROTATING TO THE RIGHT, ESSENTIALLY PIVOTING ON RIGHT WINGTIP. AS AIRCRAFT PIVOTED TO THE RIGHT, RIGHT ENGINE PASSED IN FRONT OF TRUCK AND PROPELLER STRUCK RIGHT FRONT OF TRUCK'S ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND RIGHT FENDER. AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP IN THIS POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA065](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA065), Dec 9, 2003: Beech 58P (N58JG), San Diego, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate lookout, which resulted in his failure to maintain clearance from the vehicle while taxiing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
