## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 09, 2003, AT APPROXIMATELY 2130Z AN ULTIMATE AIRCRAFT HIT THE VASI APPROACH TOWER AT THE EAST END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS HEADING FROM WEST TO EAST WHEN THESE APPROACH LIGHTS WERE HIT. THE PILOT STATED, HE THOUGHT HE HAD LANDED AT MID-FIELD AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE RUNWAY NUMBERS DISAPPEAR UNDER THE AIRPLANE. HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SURFACE TO STOP AIRCRAFT BEFORE IT HIT THE END OF RUNWAY LIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
