## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT REPORTED A NORMAL FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 16 AT NEWPORT STATE AIRPORT. HE STATED THAT HE WAS UNAWARE THAT HE HAD FORGOTTEN TO SELECT GEAR DOWN UNTIL HEARD THE SOUND OF THE PROPELLER STRIKING THE RUNWAY PAVEMENT, FOLLOWED BY THE SCRAPING OF THE AIRCRAFT BELLY SKIN. THE AIRCRAFT SLID ALONG THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET TO THE LEFT OF THE CENTERLINE AND ABOUT 800 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 16.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
