## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DECEMBER 20, 2003, AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 HOURS CST, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 20 AT BUFFALO AIRPORT (1E7), A CESSNA 195B AIRCRAFT, N6850D VEERED TO THE RIGHT AFTER ROLLOUT AND HIT THE EMBANKMENT ALONGSIDE THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR SHEARED OFF AT THE FUSELAGE SADDLE, AND THE LEFT MAIN GEAR BRAKE LINE SHEARED AT THE FUSELAGE ATTACH POINT. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR REMAINED ATTACHED, BUT WAS BENT. OUTER SECTION OF THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AND WAS BENT UPWARD. LEFT SIDE OF FUSELAGE BUCKLED IN THE CABIN AREA AND AT THE CENTER AREA OF THE EMPENNAGE. THE UPPER FUSELAGE FORWARD OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS BUCKLED. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND. THE LOWER FUSELAGE IN THE CABIN AREA SEPARATED AT THE RIVET LINE CAUSING THE CABIN DOOR TO JAM AGAINST THE LOWER INBOARD SURFACE OF THE RIGHT WING. THE DISTANCE TRAVELED FROM THE INITIAL POINT WHERE TIRE MARKS BEGAN TO VEER TO THE RIGHT TO WHERE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WAS APPROXIMATELY 184 FEET. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY TWO THIRDS DOWN THE RUNWAY WITH APPROXIMATELY ONE THIRD OF THE RUNWAY REMAINING. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT RECEIVED SERIOUS INJURIES. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED FOR THE 14 CFR LOCAL FLIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW04LA049](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW04LA049), Dec 20, 2003: Cessna 195B (N6850D), Amarillo, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The leakage of the left brake master cylinder cap, which resulted in the loss of hydraulic fluid and the failure of the left brake.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
