## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT WAS LANDING AT BLUFFTON AIRPORT (5G7) WHEN THE AIRCDRAFT WAS HIT BY A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND. THE PILOT STATED THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIFTED UP AND THEN DROPPED SUDDENLY, HARD TO THE RUNWAY ON THE NOSE GEAR AND PROPELLER. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE RUNWAY CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL STRUCTURAL DAMAGE BEHIND THE AIRCRAFT'S FIREWALL AND THE LOWER BELLY STRUCTURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04CA053](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04CA053), Dec 27, 2003: Cessna 172R (N363SA), Bluffton, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare and inadequate recovery from a bounced landing.
