## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED RUNWAY 35 AT TRADEWINDS AIRPORT FOR A VFR FLIGHT TO LAMESA, TX. HE OBTAINED A VFR CLEARANCE FROM AMARILLO ATC. WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF TURNING ON COURSE TO THE SOUTH HE CALLED ATC AND TOLD THEM HE WAS HAVING CHEST PAINS AND NEEDED TO GET TO THE GROUND. ATC PROVIDED SERVICES TO THE PILOT BY HELPING HIM RETURN TO TRADEWINDS AIRPORT AND THEN DIRECTED HIM TO CHANGE TO THE UNICOM FREQUENCY. THE ATC CONTROLLER CALLED THE FBO AT TRADEWINDS AIRPORT TO DETERMINE IF THE AIRPLANE HAD LANDED, AND FOUND OUT THAT IT HAD NOT. THE ATC CONTROLLER VECTORED ANOTHER AIRPLANE OVER THE AREA AND WRECKAGE WAS SPOTTED, BURNING IN A FARM FIELD 2 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE TRADEWIND AIRPORT. THE ATC CONTROLLER NOTIFIED FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES. THE AIRPLANE HIT THE GROUND LEFT WING LOW WITH THE LANDING GEAR STILL RETRACTED. THE COLLISION BROKE THE WING, SEPARATED THE FUSELAGE AND BROKE OFF THE TAIL-BOOM THE ENGINE AND THE COCKPIT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
