## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT HAD TAXIED PAST A POINT OF INTEREST ON THE SURFACE OF THE RESIDENTIAL AIRPORT/FLY-IN COMMUNITY. HIS ATTENTION WAS FOCUSED ON A FROSTY/SLUSHY AREA AHEAD ON THE STREET/TAXIWAY, WHEN THE OUTBOARD 2' OF THE LEFT WING STRUCK THE EXTENDED TAILGATE OF A PARKED PICKUP TRUCK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA088](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA088), Jan 3, 2004: Piper PA 28-181 (N9272Q), Groveland, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate visual lookout, and his failure to maintain obstacle clearance. Factors to the accident were the parked vehicle, and the pilot's diverted attention.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
