## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) HELICOPTER PERFORMING POWERLINE INSPECTIONS LANDED TO CONFER WITH A GROUND CREW. AT TAKE-OFF, LOOSE SNOW CAUSED A WHITE-OUT CONDITION. THREE OF FOUR MAIN ROTOR BLADES CONTACTED AND SEVERED A #4 COPPER, 3/16TH DIAMETER WIRE. PILOT INITIATED A CONTROLLED LANDING AND SHUTDOWN. INSPECTION OF THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES FOUND THE LEADING EDGE OF THREE (3) BLADES TO HAVE BEEN CREASED BY THE WIRE CONTACT. INSPECTION FOUND BLADES TO BE AIRWORTHY, AND HELICOPTER WAS FLOWN TO A SECURE LOCATION FOR FURTHER INSPECTIONS/REPAIRS. DISCUSSED THE VIEWING OF THE FAA "FLYING IN WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS" VIDEO WITH THE PILOT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD RECENTLY VIEWED THIS VIDEO DURING A RECENT PILOT SAFETY MEETING OFFICIATED OVER BY THE INDIANAPOLIS FSDO. FURTHER DISCUSSION ENTAILED SAFE CONDUCT DURING OPERATING DURING WINTER CONDITIONS. A PAMPHLET WAS MAILED TO THE PILOT CONCERNING "FLYING IN WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS".

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
