## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FEBRUARY 2, 2004, AT APPROXIMATELY 1615 HOURS CST, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON A PRIVATELY OWNED FIELD 7 MILES SOUTH OF KNOX CITY, TEXAS, ON COUNTY ROAD 2279, A PIPER PA 28-235 AIRCRAFT, N8936W, BEGAN TO VEER LEFT ON TOUCHDOWN. PILOT APPLIED HARD RUDDER WITH NO EFFECT. THE RIGHT WING TIP TOUCHED DIRT CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE, AND THE ROTATING PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND CAUSING NOSE DOWN EFFECT. THE AIRCRAFT TIPPED LEFT, INBEDDING THE LEFT WING TIP INTO THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT HALTED AND SETTLED IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE LEFT WING RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, SEPARATING FROM FUSELAGE AT THE FORWARD POINT AND BENDING THE AFT SPAR INTO THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
