## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON HIS FIRST SUPERVISED SOLO FLIGHT, HE SECOND LANDING WAS MADE, RUNWAY 05 AT FDK AND THE STUDENT PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT ON ROLLOUT. THE AIRPLANE CONTACTED A RIGID SNOW BANK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY, CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE AND THE LEFT WING TO CONTACT THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD04CA009](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD04CA009), Feb 5, 2004: Cessna 172R (N5165M), Fredrick, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing. A factor was the snow bank.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
