## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 02-09-04 AT 1630 MDT, PORTNEUF LIFE FLIGHT ENROUTE TO BURLEY, IDAHO TO PICK UP PATIENT, EXPERIENCED A CHIP LIGHT INDICATOR. THE PILOT, BARRY NEILSEN, ACTIVATED THE CHIP BURNER AND THE CHIP LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED A CONTROLLED LANDING NEAR MILE POST 221 NEAR INTERSECTION OF I-84 AND I-86. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES. THE DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE, ^PRIVACY D^ CHECKED AND CLEANED THE DETECTOR PLUG VIA THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL. HE STATED A SUBSTANCE SIMILAR TO "BLACK PASTE" WAS ON IT. HE CLEANED THE PLUG AND APPROVED THE RETURN TO SERVICE VIA INFORMATION FROM THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL. A THIRTY MINUTE FLIGHT PROVED THE CLEANING WAS SUFFICIENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
