## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED HE LANDED WELL RIGHT OF THE CENTERLINE ON RUNWAY 17. HE CONTINUED TO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT ON THE RUNWAY BECAUSE OF PATCHY ICE AND SNOW AND THE RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK A SNOWBANK AND SPUN THE AIRCRAFT 180 DEGREES, WITH THE LEFT WING IN THE SNOW BANK AND THE LEFT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE LEFT WING SEPARATED AT THE ROOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04CA041](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04CA041), Feb 13, 2004: Piper PA-28R-201T (N2216M), Rexburg, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain runway alignment, and clearance from the snow bank. A snow bank adjacent to the runway was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
